{ Julie/Jessica • Need your vote for Paris! }

Happy Monday!  Today I feel like I know what it feels like to be on American Idol.   Nooo I’m not singing but I do have a number …and I need your vote!  I am entered into the Boudoir Divas Paris contest to win $$$ towards my upcoming workshop.  This is going to be tough because each contestant has an amazing entry.  I feel lucky just to be up there with them:)

Vote here:  http://www.thedivasblog.com/2010/03/paris-contest-we-need-your-vote/

My post includes 3 photos.  One is my inner diva.  Two is why I love Paris.  Three is an image that represents love. Two is my favorite because I had alot of fun dressing up as Julia Child (The art of French Cooking)- mainly because I feel her love for Paris and the food!  Yes french food is amazing!!!  If any of you saw the movie Julie & Julia you would know what I mean.  When I think about Paris…its instant Julia Child voice!!! Ooohhh j’taime paris!  That and I am tall and goofy like her…so I didn’t have to go far when channeling my inner Julia, lol.

Please, vote #9…

xoxo

{ Great Expectations • Samantha Jane • Newborn Portrait }

It was a Thursday evening.  My sister Jennie, her husband Tom, Mike, and I all waited at the diner for THE phone call.  My sister and I teased about who would get the call first…you see, we were waiting to hear from my parents about the birth of our first niece or nephew.  Jennies’ phone rang as my text ringer chimed….”IT’S A GIRL!”  We were all jumping out of our seats!  I guess my parents know Jennie and I well, cause they dialed at the exact same time!  We immediately paid the check and rushed  over to Riverview to congratulate my brother Chris and his beautiful wife Jenn….and to welcome the newest member of the Morrisy Clan!  Dearest Samantha Jane.

Words can’t express the feelings that were rushing through all of us that night- all I can say is there was so much love and family pride present.  To see my brother, holding his baby girl…was the most amazing thing ever.  He looked so humbled by the new life before him.  I think we all were- such a miracle.

She is beautiful- and I am not just saying that cause she is my niece!  I am simply in love with her.  Isn’t her red hair is the cutest?!!  Here are some of her newborn portraits…but there will be many more to come!

{ Counting My Blessings }

This Thanksgivings was one of the best yet.  Thinking about it reminds me of the song “Count your blessings” from the movie White Christmas.  It is a beautiful reminder of all the things we have to be grateful for…

COUNT YOUR BLESSINGS (Instead of Sheep)

(Irving Berlin)
from the 1954 movie “White Christmas”.

When I’m worried and I can’t sleep
I count my blessings instead of sheep
And I fall asleep counting my blessings
When my bankroll is getting small
I think of when I had none at all
And I fall asleep counting my blessings

I think about a nursery and I picture curly heads
And one by one I count them as they slumber in their beds
If you’re worried and you can’t sleep
Just count your blessings instead of sheep
And you’ll fall asleep counting your blessings

I think about a nursery and I picture curly heads
And one by one I count them as they slumber in their beds
If you’re worried and you can’t sleep
Just count your blessings instead of sheep
And you’ll fall asleep counting your blessings

This year I am so thankful.  Here are just some of the things I am thankful for:

I have the most wonderful family and friends. I don’t think I would be the woman I am today without the love and support of these people.  Mom, Dad, Jennie, Jenn, Chris, and Tom…you guys rock!  Oh and a special shout out to Jenn Y…she is the best pseudo big sister a girl could ask for!

I am so excited that I am going to be an aunt twice this year!  My best friend  since grammar school Michelle had her beautiful baby girl Ava two weeks ago, and my sister in law Jenn is expecting too! I am beyond thrilled!

I also have the most incredible boyfriend Mike who reminds me everyday how amazing love can be. I don’t know how I got so lucky…

I have the BEST woofers.  Spencer and Noah make each day special.

I am so grateful to do what I love.  Each day I get to meet and share special moments with my wonderful clients.  I can’t imagine doing anything else.

Lastly, I am super grateful for the wonderful adventures I have had this year.  I got to meet the most amazing kindred spirits, who also share my love for photography at the Jasmine Star workshop and also the The Boudoir Divas workshop.  Being surrounded by these people has been so inspiring, it kind of gives me butterflies!

Thank you for sharing my blessings:)  Happy Thanksgiving!!!

{ Take time to enjoy life’s simple pleasures }

In spring 2009, I visited France and Italy and had the time of my life!  Maybe it’s just me, but everything in europe seemed so magical…the art, food, architecture, and history.  Recently it occurred to me that home (here in jersey!)  can also be spectacular- I just don’t make the same time here to enjoy the simple pleasures in life the way I did while on vacation!

If you know me personally, then you know I am a girl who loves my coffee…well, wine too but this post is mainly about coffee, lol.  The people at Dunkin Doughnuts and Starbucks all know me by name, and I am not even kidding.  What amazed me about europe was that the people really take time to enjoy and savor their coffee.  Drive ins…nada!  While at a cafe in Paris, I asked for le café pour aller (to-go) …the man looked at me as if I was crazy!  Allez où?…Go Where?  Why would I want to take my coffee with me, that not enjoyable!  In Tuscany a similar thing happened.  While at an Italian equivalent of a highway rest stop, I asked for a cappuccino.  To my surprise there was no recycled paper cup, but rather a porcelain cup and saucer served with a sugar packet and spoon.  I was forced or should I say lucky to enjoy my coffee in a real cup.  Not racing out the door.

I challenge you on this rainy day to enjoy the simple pleasures that life gives you, whether its coffee in a fancy cup and saucer with foam on top, a walk through the park, or even dancing around the kitchen while making dinner.  Life’s little pleasures should be savored:)  Hmm coffee anyone?

xoxo, J

Here is an image of my first cappuccino on Roma:)  Perfect with a heart on top!

{ New Gear! }

Just when I thought things couldn’t get any better, they did!  I received my Hipslip today, brought to you by the maker of my favorite camera lens bag…Shootsac! Hipslip is a streamlined carrier for your laptop, functional and stylish.  I travel a lot, which means going through security a lot…(pain in the butt.)  I really think this bag is going to help me to simplify what I pack and save my back.  When there is room in my bag…I tend to fill it.  I am such a girlie girl- on my recent trip to Florida I must have packed 25 outfits for 7 days.  What can I say, I like to be stylin!

This bag does what it says …its hip …and a slip case with strap.  All that I need- maybe something you need too.  Thanks Shootsac:)

Happy Thursday!
