{Making Strides • pretty in pink}

I just wanted to say a HUGE thank you to everyone who walked for The Cure this weekend! The turn out was amazing…there were men, women, children, even dogs out to show their support. Next year we will start the team earlier, but all in all I think it was a success. I also want to give Randi a shout out for her determination to kick cancer’s butt. Whoo hoo, thanks team Pretty in Pink:)
xoxo,
Jess

{natural beauty}

As many of you may already know, I disagree with the way society looks at the female form. The media’s perception of beauty is unrealistic and unhealthy because real women cannot be satisfied with their appearance according to current standards. The typical women is NOT 5’10”, 110 pounds, but for some reason artist’s since ancient Greece have been elongating the body to enhance beauty. While I do think some of this art is beautiful, when will the public realize that natural is still beautiful and truly embrace real women?

I found this on youtube, a promotional piece put out by Dove. My view, as a photographer, is to enhance the natural beauty that I see in my subjects…not to distort it into something unreal, unhealthy, and fallacious.
